I really want to go on a cruise, but not just any old cruise. Before I die, I want to go on a cruise around the world. I did some research, and most world cruises are about 100 days long, and you will visit about 30 countries. Awesome, right? Well, here comes the bad news. A cruise like this will set you back about $25 000. Per person! Which means that I will have to start saving for this trip...uhm...today?!
But a girl can dream. I can just imagine waking up every morning in my ocean view room, with a balcony no less, looking out the window to see in which port we are that day. Wouldn't it be great to be in a new country every other day?
I think this might be one of the best ways for me to see as much of the world as I can in a short time. It's also something you can do at any age. This means that I have plenty of time to save up the money for that voyage. It will probably take me about 40 years to save that amount of money, so I'll have enough, just in time for my retirement vacation.
I think I shouldve started saving 10years ago!!hahaha. Will def have to start now!! ;-)
ReplyDeleteYou can do anything you put your mind to!!
I'm sorry but here I have to disagree!!!
ReplyDeleteFirstly, take a second look at your 100 day itenerary and you will see that out of 100 days the ship is actually at sea for about 50-60 days, that means that for more than half of your expensive trip you are trapped in a small cabin, sometimes seasick, and eating from the same buffet line every day...
Secondly, cruise ships mostly stay in a port or destination for one day only... that means that you have only a few hours to do, see and experience everything that a country/city has to offer - impossible!!! If taking your travel photo's through the windows of a bus sitting next to a sweaty tourist is your idea of an adventure, then cruising is for you!
If you really want to spend 100 days travelling the world do the following...
Take your last holiday/trip to Thailand... and calculate exactly how much it cost you... considering you did loads of research and careful planning... Take that amount and multiply it by 14. If you get to about $25 000, then rather plan 14 such trips all over the world, you will see, experience and enjoy it much more than being stuck on a Cruise Ship!!!
Thanks for the short story, brotha! ;-) You make a good point, and obviously know way more about cruising than I do. Thanks for killing my dream by the way. LOL
