Day 23 - A picture of your favorite book

I must say, I was skeptical about reading the first Harry Potter book. Any time the masses make a big fuss about a movie or a book, I'm kind of put off by it, and refuse to get sucked into the frenzy. I was 14 when I finally gave in and read my first Harry Potter book. It was translated in Afrikaans, "Harry Potter en die Towenaar se steen", and I could not put it down once I started reading. Finally I understood why people where so crazy about it. And just like that, I was sucked in.

I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this fantasy novel, because it's not usually the genre that I like to read. I tried to read "The Lord of the Rings" earlier that year, and couldn't finish it. I just didn't enjoy it. Okay, okay! I can just hear your gasps of disbelief and see your frowns of indignation, which I get every time I tell someone about this. I also get that reaction when I tell someone about my disinterest in "The Chronicles of Narnia" series. Get over it, I just don't like it okay!

After reading the final Harry Potter book,  I tried to think which book I enjoyed the most. But it's hard to say. The story definitely got a little darker towards the end, but I really did like each book a lot. I'm actually thinking about reading the whole series again. If you haven't read these books yet, and you enjoyed the movies, you should definitely read it, as it's far better than the movies. I know people always say this, but it really is true about this series. I promise!
