I can easily get hooked on a TV show; I'm not too picky and can enjoy many genres. But lately I've really been trying not to start watching new ones. It just takes up too much of my time.
With that said, I do have my list of all time favorite TV shows. These shows I can watch over and over and over and never get sick of it.
Top 10 Favorite TV Shows:
1. Friends
It's no secret that Friends is my all time favorite show. I started watching it back in elementary school, and used to record every episode on VHS and watch it over and over. The best gift I ever received in my life was the complete series box set.
2. How I met your Mother
I've yet to meet a person that dislikes this show. How I met your Mother is hilarious, and a close second as my favorite show.
3. Sex and the City
The movies were okay, nothing like the TV show. I can watch Sex and the City episodes over and over, and actually just recently watched the entire series again for the millionth time.
4. Will & Grace
I also remember watching Will & Grace when I was still in school, and later got the box set DVDs which I watch over and over. The characters Karen and Jack are my favorites, and that's what the show should have been called.
5. Project Runway
I think Project Runway will soon enter it's tenth season, and I still watch every episode. I love the challenges where they have to create garments out of unusual materials.
6. Criminal Minds
I know there are, like, a gazillion of this type of show, but Criminal Minds is by far my favorite. Although, I do get crazy nightmares when I watched too many episodes back to back.
7. Gossip Girl
I remember when Gossip Girl started I wasn't really interested. I thought it was just another The OC, but I managed to get sucked into it of course. Even though some of the characters annoy the crap out of me, I do like the story lines and, of course, the fashion.
8. Saturday Night Live
Living in Asia, and being half a day ahead in time of the US, Saturday Night Live for me is more like Sunday Afternoon Not-so-live. I don't watch each episode, only if I read good reviews on an episode or if it starred one of my favorite celebrities. Molly Shannon and Jimmy Fallon will always be my favorites from previous casts, but there are some new additions that I totally love.
9. Lost
Even though many people got disinterested in Lost after getting, well, lost after the first two seasons, I still really enjoyed the show. The trick is to not watch one episode a week, but to watch an entire season in one sitting, like I did. But I must admit, I'm still not entirely sure what happened in the last season...
10. Absolutely Fabulous
Absolutely Fabulous is by far the most ridiculous show on TV, but in a good way. It is hilarious! If you don't like British humor, you will probably not like this show though.

What are your favorite TV shows of all time?
My favorites are The X-Files, Frasier, King Of The Hill, and the early seasons of The Simpsons (before season 12 or so).
ReplyDeleteI've seen a few episode of Frasier, really liked it, too!
DeleteI love HIMYM, Project Runway (although I hate how they have started rigging the recent seasons :( ), Gossip Girl, SATC, Saturday Night Live, and Lost!
ReplyDeleteDo you know when the new season of Project Runway will start? Can't wait!
DeleteI am OBSESSED with Criminal Minds! Some of my other faves are SATC, Fresh Prince of Bel Air, and the Cosby Show.

I used to watch Fresh Prince of Bel Air a loooong time ago. I love Carlton! :-D
DeleteLove Ab Fab!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it great!? I heard there are some new episodes out, but I haven't seen them!
DeleteLysel, jy moet bietjie Law & Order probeer, Special Victims Unit. Nogal grim, maar slim geskryf en kreatief.
ReplyDeleteEk kan nie nog 'n program begin kyk nie! TE VEEL! LOL
DeleteI love Saturday Night Live, too.
ReplyDeleteTry "The Big Bang Theory," if you haven't already. It sounds like it is right up your alley.
I've seen a couple of "The Big Bang Theory" episodes, and you're right, it's totally my type of show. I want to watch every episode so badly, but I also don't want to start watching new shows.. What to do!?
DeleteFriends is amazing! My roommate and I watch reruns of it almost every night, even though we've seen every episode a thousand times. And I second the Big Bang Theory. It reminds me a lot of How I Met Your Mother and Friends...it's the same type of comedy.

I've probably seen each Friends episode more than twenty times, no jokes! Maybe I'll give in to The Big Bang Theory... One more show couldn't hurt...? :-D
DeleteI totally agree with Friends, HIMYM and Lost, although yes that last season was a wee bit weird!
ReplyDeleteMe and the bf watch TV shows together; last exams we re watched all of the 24 seasons, not the best idea because I watch them all at once! He also got me into Ally McBeal, I totally had not heard of it growing up!
I can watch SATC, Ab Fab and Will & Grace over and over!!
ReplyDeleteOf course, it might just be easier to stick with the same actors and genres when looking for a new TV series collection. But that will give limited entertainment.
