"Forever young, I wanna be forever young..." |
Yes, some parts about being a grown up is quite grand; like being able to eat that ice cream at 10pm if you so wish, staying up late if you feel like it, making your own money and spending it on whatever your heart desires, and being able to travel the world. But, you know, sometimes I just don't feel like being an adult and acting my age. Hence, the top 10 things I hate about being a grown up:
Even though I'm 26, I still don't like making my own appointments, and I also hate that I am now required to go to said appointments by myself.
2. Not being able to order from the kids' menu
I'm sorry, but am I the only one who would rather be eating the chicken nuggets and fries, arranged in a cute smiley face, than a "grown up" meal?
3. Planning for the future
Ugh! Retirement. Investments. Savings. Insurance. Why do these words keep coming up in my daily life, and why do I have to know what they mean?
4. Taking care of myself
No one reminds me to take my vitamins and eat enough fruits and vegetables. I have to think for myself and make sure I don't have some kind of deficiency.
5. Taking responsibility for my actions
No more blaming anything on being "young and dumb".
6. Paying bills
Gone are the days when my name only appeared on envelopes containing a sweet letter and some cash from my grandmother.
7. Cooking for myself
The time I spend every day feeding and keeping myself alive really takes away from my doing-nothing time.
8. Doing taxes
I've never liked math, and no, I don't want to give you my hard earned money! And why should I!?
9. Doing my own laundry
And it's just never as clean and perfectly folded as my mom used to do it.
10. Getting older
Is that a wrinkle? Where did my metabolism go? Do I need glasses? That can't be a gray hair!
I love just about everything about being a grown-up - and I've been one for some time now!

Great! Can I send you my bills then? ;-) Just kidding! I love being a grown up most of the time, but sometimes.. not so much.
DeleteGreat list in which I can totally relate. What I think is great about being a grown-up is the freedom that I can have. Now that I am going away to college, I can obtain that freedom where I can make my own decision and don't have to rely on others to make it for me. The thing I don't like about being a grown-up is seeing your friends grow apart. Some friendship last forever, but being a grown-up it is difficult to stay connected with the friends from the past.

I have to agree with you on the friends thing. It's so easy to stay in touch with your friends when you're in school and college, because they are just there every day. Now I have to make appointments and stuff to see them. That really sucks!
DeleteAt 24 paying bills is definitely on my hate list. I do agree about the whole eating what/when you want and traveling bit though! Though to do such things, you have to do that stupid grown up thing called work. Ew..
ReplyDeleteWork is actually one of my favorite things of being a grown up.. but I'm weird like that. And I happen to love my job!
DeleteTotally agree on the making my own appointment. Hate it. Also tax talk freak me out as well as retirement funds, and insurance talk. I literally feel my trhought close up when someone mention 'retirement funds/savings account'
ReplyDeleteLOL I know!
DeleteOverall I love being an adult because there are more freedoms, even if there are more responsibilities. I don't miss being in school and having to ask the teacher, in front of the whole class, if I can go to the bathroom. I also love cooking. If I feel like eating ice cream before dinner, I will do so, and if I want to eat __ two nights in a row, I can. :)
ReplyDeleteYeah, all these things are pretty awesome!
DeleteHaha #6 is soooo true. Actually, I hate paying for anything that's not fun (bills, rent, food...) Every time I do it, it's like "HEY! Where did all my clothes/partying/traveling money go??"
ReplyDeleteLOL That's exactly how I feel!
DeleteThank you for reminding me I haven't taken my vitamins yet today! :)
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome! :-)
Delete1. Going to borrow this one.
ReplyDelete2. I agree on mostly everything you listed. I hear you.
3. You've got yourself a new follower :-)
