I know, I know. I'm a week late with this post. So, how's 2014 treating you so far? Have you been keeping up with your resolutions? Did you even make any resolutions?
I wasn't really planning on listing specific resolutions for 2014, I mean, I already have a checklist at work, a wedding checklist, a packing-for-our-trip-to-South Africa checklist, a shopping list... I really didn't need another list...
But, then I saw this post on LaurenConrad.com and it inspired me to make some resolutions for 2014 anyway. It can't hurt to always try and be better than the person you were last year, last week or even just yesterday.
Last year, I also got my 2013 New Year's Resolutions idea on Lauren's website, and I loved having my resolutions framed and out in the open for me, and everyone else, to see every day. I think I did pretty well with them, and I'm going to make another one this year for sure.
I got this template from Lauren's 2014 New Year's Resolutions post, and here are my New Year's Resolutions for 2014:
A bad habit I'm going to break:
Eating junk food. Oh, junk food.We have a love-hate relationship that I just can't manage to break up with. I love eating, and I usually eat relatively healthy during the week. But weekends, that's when The Fiancé and I tend to make some very bad decisions on the food-front. I know we can do better!
A destination I'd like to visit:
We already have a trip to South Africa and the States lined up for this year, and there are obviously many other places we still want to visit, but we will probably only have time for a quick trip somewhere close to Taiwan. We've been thinking about visiting South Korea. Between The Fiancé and I, we've been to most Asian countries, but neither of us have been to South Korea, which is a short flight from Taiwan.
I'm going to work harder at:
Making time for my friends. I feel that I should make more of an effort to spend quality time with these people that add so much color to my life. With my work schedule, it's nearly impossible for me to socialize during the work week, my days are just too long and I'm too tired at night. But I do love spending time with my friends over the weekends, and I want to make sure that I make time for each and every one of them, because they mean so much to me.
A project I'd like to finish:
Three years ago (yes, THREE) I got a bunch of photos printed that I wanted to hang up in our apartment... I bought the frames, and have the photos, but I've never gotten to hanging them up. And now I feel that those photos are old and I want to get new ones printed. I'd like to finish this project.
A class I'd like to take:
Oh man, if only I had more hours in the day, I would definitely take Chinese classes or do a photography course. Like I said, though; My day is super long (I get up at around 6:15am and start work at 7:30am) and my brain basically shuts down at around 5:30pm.
I'd like to spend more time doing:
Spontaneous things. I can't even count how many times The Fiancé has said on a Saturday: "let's go to <<insert weird little town in Taiwan>> tonight and stay in a hotel". And my response? "Baby, you know me, I need to be prepared for a trip. I need my stuff. You need to tell me a week in advance and I want to know exactly how we're getting there and where we're staying." I'm a hoot, aren't I?
A food I want to eat more of:
Fruit! I love fruit, and any time I eat it I think to myself that I should eat it more. I just don't know why I don't buy more fruit!? Also, I've been obsessed with coconut oil and I definitely want to work that into my daily diet.
I want to wear more:
Uhm... this is a weird resolution to have... I guess I want to wear more cute hairstyles. I rarely make a big effort with my hair. I get it highlighted, and mostly wear it in a ponytail or bun at work. Over the weekend I'll get all crazy and maybe put a hairpin somewhere in there. Nowadays, I see so many cute hairstyles online and they don't look that difficult. I just need to practice and actually spend some time on it before heading out the house.
Do you have resolutions for 2014?
Great goals! I decided to set mostly fun ones for myself this year. And I am loving that you want to try to be more spontaneous! I have the same one for myself... I want to be more that way as well. :) And the fruit things is good too. So yummy and healthy, but I feel like I forget to eat it too. Good luck and happy travels! (I am hoping to make it to Seattle &/or New Orleans this year! - Alexandra
