Toby on his walk |
After what felt like a lifetime of waiting, my dream finally came true when we brought our fur baby home on September 14th, 2014. Everyone, meet Toby. Our boy is a little over six kilograms as of today, and the adoption agency estimates him to be around five or six months old. No one is sure of his breed, but we assume he's some kind of Poodle mix, with a hint of sheep and polar bear.
Along with his brother, Toby was at a local weekend adoption event when we met him. I fell in love with his gentle and calm nature, his soft hair and his gorgeous eyes. I actually cried when I held him the first time. I knew then and there that he was our dog.
He was kind of shy in the beginning, and didn't know how to walk on a leash yet. But after two weeks I can definitely say that he has come out of his shell and that Cesar Millan would be proud of how good he walks on a leash. He loves chilling out and follows me everywhere. He would basically do anything for some chicken, and therefore very quickly learned how to sit, lie down and go into his crate on command. Luckily he is only alone for a few hours in the day, as The Husband and I work opposite schedules; that also means that he gets to go on two long walks every day, which he loves.
From next week, look out for my Tuesdays with Toby series where I'll share more of our journey with our new furry friend.
Bow wow, friends!
Congrats on your new baby! He is a cutie xoxo
